Five Trunk Shows I'd Die To Attend

Vera Wang Bridal 2012 Gowns.
[#7]

This weekend I will be attending the Vera Wang Bridal trunk show at Saks Fifth Avenue. I am extremely excited for the event, as trunk shows are like a mini fashion show. All of the gowns are displayed, and there are usually a few models to show you how to wear them. Of course, a trunk show is on a much smaller scale than the stage at Bridal Week, but this can sometimes be an advantage. A major plus is that there are hardly any crowds, so you really have the chance to get up close to the designs and make a better decision about which one to purchase. And, sometimes the designer even makes an appearance!

Here is a video from Vera Wang's Spring 2012 Bridal Show. I will be seeing the same designs this weekend!

I've been to only one trunk show before, and I have to say it was an incredible experience. I went to a Jovani trunk show during my senior year of high school. I was in search of the absolute perfect prom dress, so needless to say, I was in heaven amongst all of the couturesque designs. Here are a few more shows I'd love to attend:

1. Alice and Olivia. Not that the designs are incredibly high end, but they're just so unique and free-spirited! I'd love the chance to see them up close as an entire collection.

2. Chanel. What girl doesn't  love Chanel?! Karl Lagerfeld is an absolute genius... His designs are so classic and timeless.

3. Vera Wang RTW. Not only does Vera Wang design beautiful bridal gowns, but she also has a history of creating excellent Ready to Wear collections. Everything 'Vera' seems to have a gorgeous romantic twist.

4. Miu Miu. When Miu Miu first came on the scene, a lot of fashion critics thought of it as nothing more than a spinoff of Prada. Now, years later, Miu Miu has involved into a line all on its own. I love the whimsical inspirations!

5. Alexander McQueen. The true designer himself may have passed on, but Sarah Burton has certainly made it understood that she will carry on the legacy of McQueen. Each season, I look forward to seeing what kind of shocking designs will make their way down the runway, and I'm never disappointed.

LOVESTRUCK by Vera Wang Commercial!

Back in April, I gave a first look at Vera Wang's new fragrance, LOVESTRUCK, as soon as the official photos were released. I absolutely LOVE Vera Wang Princess, so naturally I was extremely excited about Lovestruck. But my excitement reaches far beyond the fact that Wang's name is attached to it.

No, the real reason I'm obsessed is because it was inspired by none other than Leighton Meester, more commonly recognized as Upper East Side [ice] Queen Blair Waldorf!! Here's a first look at the commercial, which was released yesterday:

So, what do you think?! Love it? Hate it? Wish you actually slightly cared? Personally, I wish they chose a different song... something more girly and elegant. But, nonetheless, I still LOVE Leighton!

LOVESTRUCK by Vera Wang

Remember my post back in February (Style Star: Leighton Meester) where I talked about Upper East Side Queen Leighton Meester’s major influence on fashion? I doubt it, because I honestly had like 3 followers back then. But really, Leighton is far more than Serena van der Woodsen’s (Blake Lively) sidekick. She’s the face of Missoni, Herbal Essences, and now, Vera Wang’s newest fragrance, Lovestruck, which is due out in August.

Lovestruck is a modern day romance, with Leighton waiting on a fire escape for her prince charming. He brings her a bottle of Lovestruck, of course. Here’s what Vera Wang had to say about Leighton’s role in Lovestruck:

“When I heard tourists saying, ‘I want to look like her,’ I knew we were right on the money,” Vera told WWD. “There’s nothing like the real client in the street, and I mean the street literally — and in windows literally.”

When the announcement was first made, I found that beautiful picture of Leighton in the red Vera Wang dress worn during her photoshoot. Now, the print ad is completed, and its simply gorgeous! Below are some photos of Leighton, Vera Wang, the ad, the perfume bottle, and some awesome shots of the launch party!

Style Star: Leighton Meester

Watch Out For Leighton Meester's Major Influence On Fashion This Year!

To most of the world, Leighton Meester is no more than Blair Waldorf, the prim and proper sidekick to Serena Van Der Woodsen on Gossip Girl. But if you look closely, Leighton is beautifully poised with perfect features and feminine charm, and she's been acting circles around the rest of the cast for almost four years and counting.

In 2009, Leighton was noticed for her perfect hair and skin, and starred in the advertising campaigns for Clearasil and Sunsilk, respectively. She has also been featured as the face for Reebok and the Korean clothing line ASK Enquired.

Currently, Leighton is the spokesperson for Herbal Essences. It was recently announced that Leighton was chosen as the face for Vera Wang's upcoming fragrance, due to hit stores this summer. (Preview from the photoshoot to the left!) Vera stated that Leighton's "beauty, talent and spirit will inspire all the young women that I hope will enjoy this passionate, new young fragrance." Also, Leighton was just named the new face of Missoni's Spring/Summer 2011 campaign and South Korean makeup brand eSpoir.

Leighton's on-screen and off-screen style are both equally praise-worthy. As preppy-chic Upper East Side queen Blair Waldorf, Leighton makes the traditionally bland private school uniform look incredibly envy-inducing. She's the only person who can make headbands look glamorous year-round, if even at all, and her simple yet sophisticated school girl style is catching on- take a look at Vera Wang's Preppy Princess advertising campaigns, and tell me its NOT undeniably Blair!

As for her off-screen persona, Leighton wears a toned-down verson of Blair's style, usually opting for pale shades that complement her fair complection. She looked elegant as ever at the Golden Globes this year, wearing a dress from the Burberry Prorsum Collection, and accessorizing with a Louis Vuitton Clutch, Cathy Waterman jewelry, and Jimmy Choo shoes.

If you love Leighton Meester even half as much as I do, then get excited for 2011! She stars in 4 movies, films the 5th season of Gossip Girl, and is the face of 3 major advertising campaigns (and counting!). This is your year, Leighton!
